By joining our team as a hands-on Data Engineering Manager, you will help maintain and expand our core data infrastructure and support the creation of custom data integrations with external partners. You’ll be responsible for gathering technical requirements for secure communications, timely development of team objectives, and monitoring/troubleshooting the ongoing support of team operations. Your team’s work will support the foundation on which our company develops useful data products.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Working closely with the Senior Director of Engineering to ensure you and your team of 3 reports are aligned with appropriate internal roadmaps and business objectives
- Continually improve the existing modern data warehouse/core orchestration architecture to support the business needs and build reliable and robust data integrations with external partners
- Working with internal and external partners to plan, build, and deploy custom data integrations
- Monitoring pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and elevate them as needed
- Providing timely resolution of problems or escalation on behalf of internal and external partners to appropriate next level of technical support personnel in alignment with established service level agreements (SLAs)
- Following quality review process to measure and ensure adherence and compliance in quality of service and contractual obligations.
- Become intimately familiar with HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable regulatory frameworks and how they influence our architecture and development decisions
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, performance reviews, and 1-1s for your team
What You’ll Bring to OneStudyTeam
- Have 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with 3+ years of consistent agile leadership experience, ideally in a relevant industry working on regulated data
- Incredible people skills, communication, and organizational skills
- Significant track record of delivery and attention to detail, especially around security
- Deep practical experience with AWS (Redshift, Athena RDS (Postgres), S3, MSK, Glue, Lake Formation, etc.), Kafka, Apache Iceberg, and data orchestration tools such as Terraform, Prefect, and dbt
- Experience with Python, Clojure, SQL, back-end development and shell scripting
- Deep technical knowledge in data modeling, data replication, and database design
- Solid software testing, documentation, and debugging practices in the context of distributed systems
- Experience managing an agile team with modern source control (git), code review, and CI/CD systems and methodologies
