Maria Bonitais a vibrant, locally owned restaurant in the heart ofSan Antonio, Texas, known for delivering bold flavors, warm hospitality, and a passion for authentic, elevated Latin cuisine. About the Role
As Executive Chef, you will oversee all kitchen operations—from menu development and food quality to team leadership and cost control. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and inspires excellence in the kitchen. You’ll work closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership to ensure a seamless and outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and train kitchen staff while fostering a positive and productive team culture
• Develop and execute innovative, seasonal menus that reflect our culinary vision
• Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
• Oversee inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective purchasing
• Manage food and labor costs to meet budget goals
• Ensure full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Collaborate with ownership on menu strategy, kitchen upgrades, and special events
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Qualifications
• 5+ years of culinary leadership experience, preferably in a full-service or upscale restaurant
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a kitchen team
• Strong understanding of Latin cuisine and modern culinary techniques
• Excellent organizational, budgeting, and inventory management skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety credentials
