Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Linux BSP and Kernel Engineer to support the Axiom Space Commercial Space Station Program in Houston, TX. The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for developing custom distributions of Linux and supporting low-level software for the Space Station computers.

This is an onsite position.

Key Duties:

• Work with a team to design, develop, and test embedded flight software.
• Design and build functional, efficient, dependable, secure, and maintainable software.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board-level firmware.
• Give and receive productive feedback during collaboration and in design and code reviews.
• Serve as the team subject matter expert on Linux and Operating Systems/bootloaders.
• Collaborate effectively with avionics engineers to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions into real-time software.
• Support milestone reviews such as PDR, CDR, and SDR.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
• 10 or more years of experience in low-level Linux embedded development.
• Strong development skills in C, embedded linux, u-boot, and buildroot.
• Hands-on experience with hardware and embedded board bring up.
• Must have a strong experience in Building & Debugging bootloaders, Linux kernel, and drivers.
• Must be good in make, and exposed to at least one of the build systems such as Yocto.
• Strong knowledge of device tree structures and prior experience in BSP porting.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Knowledge of Xilinx, Vivado, petalinux, and/or qemu.
