Job Description

The Applied Electromagnetics Division (AED) of Applied Research Associates, Inc (ARA) is seeking a Principal EW Systems Engineer to join our team in Dayton, OH as a Group Leader/Project Director and help us develop and expand our EW/RF Engineering business. We are looking for an authority in all aspects of electromagnetic warfare who will help us grow our business with the Department of Defense and the primes. The right candidate will be a leading expert in electromagnetic warfare (EW) and/or radar for either sea, ground, or air-based applications. As a Principal EW Systems Engineer, you will identify, define, and recommend solutions to complex technical problems based on general input from the Government customers.

The successful Principal EW Systems Engineer candidate will:

  • Apply subject matter expertise in EW systems, modeling and simulation, and/or adaptive EW applications to grow and lead multidiscipline technical teams
  • Establish and execute capture plans to grow ARA's market share in this critical domain
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation of technical proposals for new opportunities
  • Lead and contribute to business development and R&D projects across ARA
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and partners to develop solutions that transform to winning opportunities and successfully executed programs
  • Grow and lead a team of like-minded engineers and scientists

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship and active TS clearance or TS clearance held within the last two years. Ability to obtain SAP/SCI accesses.
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate or commute to the Dayton, Ohio area.
  • At least ten years in a field of applied electromagnetics, including:
    • 8-10 years in electronic warfare, signal processing, and/or RF hardware engineering
    • 5 years related experience in project development and execution
    • 5 years related radar work

  • Superior record of creative work including technical papers and articles as well as disclosures and patents
  • Marketing, business development, and proposal writing skills
  • Team Player with the ability to work in team environments as individual contributor or as technical lead
  • Leadership experience (technical, project and/or prior management experience)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other field related to EW Systems Engineering
  • Experience with adaptive EW or AI/ML data manipulation
  • Experience with software-/hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Experience with Open Systems Architecture is a plus!
  • EW and/or system component manufacturing and integration and test
  • Experience with radio frequency system on chip (RFSOC) or field programmable gate arrays (FPGA)
  • Experience with antennas and broadband multifunction phased array systems development including digital RF modules
  • Project Management Professional certification
