Your Role and Responsibilities

As a backend lead developer you will lead a highly focused self-managed Agile team that designs develops & deploys mainframe product on z/OS. Your expertise in designing and building high performance reliable enterprise observability product on the mainframe will enable next-generation experiences for our customers. You will interface with senior technical leaders and delivery teams to shape estimate and deliver the product that adds value to our customers in their observability journey.

This position is for a experienced senior developer with experience in mainframe product development or mainframe application development using one or more mainframe subsystems (CICS MQ IMS and DB2). The ideal candidate has programming experience using Assembler/HLASMC/C++ and using MVS services in either product development or application development.

Major Responsibilities

• Works as part of a project team regularly communicating with project stakeholders on project progress and status.
• Capable of designing coding unit testing debugging and maintaining the highest level of difficult computer programs. This position requires the candidate to be currently hands-on in Assembler coding.
• Performs root cause analysis to quickly identify and resolve customer issues.
• As a member of this dynamic team supporting the delivery of enterprise software for a large user base you demonstrate leadership technical curiosity a self-starter creativity as well as forward-thinking with a passion for growth and innovation.

The job requires the ability to perform new code features as well as code enhancements for the Z APM Connect product. Future team members should expect to work in a collaborative team-driven environment with a group of experienced software engineers who want to deliver great technology.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 10+ years’ experience in mainframe application or product development
• Leadership skills – ability to drive and mentor the team and ensure timely and quality delivery of product features.
• 10+ years of recent mainframe programming experience 5+ years of Assembler C++ language experience
• Current hands-on coding in Assembler
• Must have expert system-level knowledge of one or more of the following subsystems: CICS IMS MQ DB2
• Experience designing developing unit testing and supporting mainframe software development experience in an agile environment
• A self-starter & ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of AppDynamics or Instana is helpful
• Experience developing in REXX COBOL Java Python
• Knowledge of SAFE framework is a plus
