The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Senior Windows Systems Administrator to join our IT infrastructure/platforms team in Beaverton, OR or Denver, CO.

Candidate profile

You will be responsible for administering and maintaining core IT infrastructure/platforms and providing advanced day-to-day operational support and architectural oversight. Your day to day will include, but not limited to improved patching cadence and accuracy, improved security hardening and compliance, improved delivery timeframe for revenue generating projects, enhanced proactive issue prevention and quicker response time to resolve standard requests with the ability to react to urgent requests without significant impact to planned work. You will also need to be able to support realistic on-call rotation which is current one week every three weeks.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide advanced operational support and management of servers, operating systems, and IT support tools/technologies in a production environment.
  • Operating system deployment using vCenter (VMWare) or bare metal.
  • Ability to provide hands-on duties within a DataCenter.
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in IT tools including monitoring, backups, malware control, remote access, inventory management/collection and other related tools.
  • Design and configure IT infrastructure solutions to meet complex business and system requirements by leveraging recommended best practices, organizational governance, ensuring optimization of performance and minimizing risk.
  • Manages system security and permissions in alignment with the IT Security and Compliance Team.
  • Drives root cause analysis and follow up on related action items.
  • Escalation point for patching.
  • Work with users and/or project teams to analyze business needs and develop requirements documentation and project plans.
  • Develop monitoring tools to proactively identify issues before problems arise.
  • Respond to escalated issues, conducts advanced troubleshooting/research and reports on workarounds and resolutions per ITIL-management best practices.
  • Drives standardization of operating system deployment methodologies.
  • Drives standardization of application stack deployment methodologies.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert to other infrastructure engineers as needed to perform advance troubleshooting of operating system and/or applications.
  • Performs installation, configuration, administration, design and tuning of many infrastructure systems and applications (see skills below).
  • On-call unless a planned vacation or PTO time has been communicated with their supervisor.

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience working as a Systems Administrator, with a minimum of 4 years at a senior level.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent additional experience in a related discipline (e.g., information technology, computer science, business, engineering).
  • Experience with implementing and managing complex DataCenter IT environments.
  • Your peers rely on your decisions as the Windows Server SME.

Technical Skills

  • Adept at change management and release management policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Advanced PowerShell
  • Implementation, configuration, and management of most of the following technologies:
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 / 2019 R2
    • Microsoft IIS
    • Active Directory Account Management and Replication topology
    • DNS
    • DHCP Server
    • TCP/IP and general network management experience required.
  • Advanced level server OS troubleshooting, including advanced knowledge of the Registry, Service Management, Event Viewer, and advanced components.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS disk systems required.
  • Experience with hotfix/patch management systems required.
  • Certifications in related technologies (MSP, MCSE, A+, CCNA, etc.) preferred.
  • Advanced level experience with hypervisors including VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V required.
  • Expert knowledge of security best practices using CIS and NIST standards.

For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $130,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
