Job Description

As the Technology Lead, you will provide support and leadership for the Southeast Toyota Parts Distribution proprietary legacy mainframe solution and related mainframe software while working closely with the business and technology teams to deliver related IT services. These services include but are not limited to oversight of efforts to troubleshoot issues, optimize current system, capacity planning, communications, storage administration, and coding for the application development staff for mainframe systems topics and issues.

This position's responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications are very specific to the ability to successfully fulfil this role due to the uniqueness of working with our Mainframe system. Please be sure that your experience aligns with the requirements below.

This position is located at our Southeast Toyota Parts Distribution facility and requires a weekly onsite presence at a minimum of 3 days per week, with up to 20% national travel. Due to the requirements of this position, additionally hybrid or remote flexibility is not offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as we transition from our legacy mainframe-based warehouse management and accounting system to our new cloud-based applications.
  • Assist the JM Family Modernization team with development of interim mainframe solutions in our migration to cloud-based applications.
  • Serve as first line of support for warehouse automation (e.g., cobots, scanning devices, etc.). Serve as technical liaison to ITS or vendor partners as needed.
  • Act as 'rules expert' overseeing the user system configurations.
  • Review vendor provided application upgrades and make recommendations to business owner regarding impact of implementing new features.
  • Perform current state analysis of applications and critical data interfaces to help aid the requirement gathering and project discovery.
  • Document the High Level and STTM (Source to Target Mapping) documents of Mainframe output to target system.
  • Document technical design for new releases related to PDC. Play a role as a technical lead, creating technical work breakdown and milestones to track the execution of the project.
  • Provide first line of support for technical infrastructure for the PDC and larger JM Family impacts.
  • Support the critical mainframe applications for PDC and actively support any MI (major incidents) to restore the services to the business.
  • Participate in all mainframe incidents to coordinate and direct activities as well as to provide guidance to outsourcing provider and other JM support groups.
  • Troubleshoot daily production issues related to existing Mainframe and Informatica Power Exchange, IBM MQ sub-systems. Be the general go-to person when there are mainframe problems or questions.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of JM Family PDC SET Dealer Returns Portal, SET Claims Portal, Order Entry System, Accessory Forecasting System, and EDI Portal for designing and implementing business requirements.
  • Analyze IBM Mainframe code using 'PCL', JCL, ZPL, CICS, Crossplex / Legasuite (Rocket Software), AS/400, COBOL, DB2 and IBM mainframe platform to support and extend existing systems SET applications.
  • By using knowledge of technologies above, analyze defects raised for those code modules developed and tested as part of the design.
  • Perform root cause analysis and fix the defects. Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
  • Perform continuous deployment across environments using CHGMAN for Mainframe and Microsoft Release manager for WCF Services.
  • Manage, maintain, and administer propriety products like TRMS (Reporting repository).
  • Provide understanding of mainframe tools like FATSO, FADB2 and SEARCH-C. Integrate mainframe through MQ, RabbitMQ and DataPower.
  • Provide understanding of NJE/ RJE file transfer process between distinct mainframe platforms.
  • Use Zeke, ELK, and Kibana for monitoring and alerts of mainframe batch processing.
  • Develop and provide ad hoc performance and tracking reports. Document existing QUIKJOB reports business rules to migrate into IBM Cognos or Salesforce based on EA standards. Manage VPS (Virtual Print Software) and Zebra Printers integrations, NEPS, and Taylor Communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Ten years of systems programmer experience required, including: experience with IBM Mainframe code 'PCL', JCL, ZPL, CICS, CrossPlex / Legasuite (Rocket Software), AS/400, COBOL, DB2 and IBM mainframe platform.
  • Knowledge of Database Design, Computer Architecture, Data Structures, Design Patterns, SQL Server, Mongo DB, Agile Methodologies, JIRA, GitHub, Selenium, Jenkins, and IBM Platform: CICS, DB2, and JCL.
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management, including running warehouse functionalities such as Picking, Receiving, Waves, and Returns Processing; experience with Inventory Management and Demand Planning functions and packaged solutions (e.g. MS D365) to run forecasting, backorder management, purchase orders, and ASNs.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry in vehicle processing and the inter dependency with parts distribution functions; ability to work in a complex environment of mainframe and distributed applications with willingness to switch between the two.
  • Experience in analyzing, documenting, installing, developing, and maintaining operating system software including utility software and system software languages while providing technical support to users concerning system software and utilities; ability to articulate/document mainframe best practices; working knowledge of ITIL principles with emphasis on problem/incident/change management.
  • Experience in IT technical/thought leadership experience; ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using legacy and leading-edge technology and or/integrating diverse technology applications.
  • Ability to assist in the development of department strategic roadmaps providing vision and thought leadership in key technology areas; experience managing a high-volume workload accompanied by shifting priorities.
  • Experience in presenting and translating highly technical capabilities to business leaders in a way to gain understanding and to conceptualize business value (speaking without using technology-speak, developing management presentations, writing, and documenting business and technical documentation, developing process diagrams).
  • Experience in establishing best practices, procedures, and enforcing governance; and experience collaborating and partnering with IT and vendor partners to obtain common results.
  • Must have the ability to be in on-call rotation and lead problem resolution.
  • National travel 10-20%.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
