CGI is looking for a talented data science engineer to join the CGI team located in Birmingham, AL. In this position, you will utilize your analytical skills to lead local clients to guide them on their data science journey. Plus, you will be part of a team of smart, dedicated people, like yourself, looking to make an impact with both internal and client stakeholders.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Maintain a constant inquisitive nature, asking stakeholders good questions about the data and seeking to learn the broader context in which the work is being performed• Maintain a consultative mindset and work directly with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage company data to drive solutions• Participate in the problem framing/formulation phase of the development lifecycle• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to assess effectiveness and accuracy of datasets to be used in models and algorithms• Demonstrate a solid understanding of machine learning model development life cycles and MLOps• Be involved in hands-on implementation on all phases of the development lifecycle (including problem formulation, data cleansing, EDA, feature engineering, statistical model, etc.)• Unpack existing SQL queries and explain to stakeholders what the query is doing • Work independently while communicating needs to stakeholders• Be assertive in figuring out what to do when a stakeholder request is broad in scope and not just a task to complete• Stay highly organized and accommodating when stakeholders constantly change priorities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Experience with programing and statistical languages: R, SAS, SPSS, Python, or SQL• Extensive experience with Python and relevant libraries: NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc.• Expertise on a variety of machine learning techniques and libraries, for example: clustering, decision tree, regression, artificial neural networks, TensorFlow, deep learning, PyTorch, etc.• Ability to perform exploratory data analysis and data mining using SQL and Python• Experience of real-world advantages/drawbacks of machine learning algorithms and techniques• Experience working with large datasets and Cloud Data Lakes platforms• Proficient in data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, or ML Flow is a plus• Experience with Data Virtualization and Denodo is a plus• Experience with Azure ML is a plus
