The role:
As the manager of the Galileo Observability team, you will be responsible for leading a team to ensure the highest levels of availability, performance and security of the Galileo observability platform. Leading initiatives to improve overall capabilities in a highly distributed and dynamic environment.Â
The role requires an experienced engineering leader with excellent cross-functional and communication skills as well as backgrounds in operations, software development, systems performance and resilience engineering. Always focusing on the quality experience of our customers.
 What you’ll do:Â
- Own the vision of the future Galileo Observability platform
- Lead by example, care for the team and establish credibility with the quality of the team’s technical execution
- Manage on-call rotations
- Coordinate the development and delivery of monitoring solutions to service teamsÂ
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of system availability
- Drive automation efforts to improve operational efficiencies and system integration
- Partner with engineering teams in the design of systems and infrastructure
- Nurture a culture of continuous improvement and blameless retrospection within the organization
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Grow and mentor a team of engineers, building their talents by exposing them to new challenges and experiences
- Participate in deep technical design discussions within the team, and across partner teams to ensure that we're building the right systems and keeping the quality high
What you’ll need:
- 3+ years of experience managing in a DevOps environment
- 8+ years of experience with system administration/operations and or/software development
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subjectÂ
- Consistent track record of performance management and career development of individual contributors
- Ability to engage in technical and business discussions from both tactical and strategic viewpoints
- Experience with monitoring platforms (i.e. Splunk, DataDog)
- Ability to balance delivering on business objectives while also protecting the long term quality of platform
- Experience leading cross-organizational efforts with different teams to identify operational challenges
- Experience operating in the Cloud, preferably in AWS
Nice to have:
- Expertise building and deploying software using cloud services, Cloud Foundry and AWS platform including VPCs, ECS/EKS, etc.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as FinTech
- Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and technical program management experience
