Your role in helping us shape the future:
You are a highly self-motivated leader, who works collaboratively across the organization to develop and implement innovative new in-flight connectivity solutions. You will lead and manage a team responsible for integrating product and airworthiness requirements into a high-performance, high-reliability airborne in-flight connectivity (IFC) system. You will report to the Vice President, Airborne Access R&D.
Are you up to the challenge?
  • Direct day-to-day development of the airborne hardware that serves as a platform for in-flight delivery of gogo's products and services.
  • Continuously drive technology enhancements that improve link efficiency, improve LRU reliability, and lower costs.
  • Work with Program Management to ensure development prioritization matches business objectives and risks are clearly characterized.
  • Interface with Quality and Airline Technical Ops organizations to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to effectively manage vendors during the transition from development to production.
  • Ensure development activities comply with all applicable internal process requirements.
  • Communicate, and provide clarifications of, requirements to vendors.
  • Work with vendors and certification engineering to ensure all vendor and/or FAA mandated airworthiness requirements (per DO-160G, Boeing D6-, Airbus ABD100-, etc. ) are met.
  • Be the "voice of gogo" with vendors to ensure designs meet all applicable requirements and are delivered on-time, provide feedback on prototype development, and confirm performance during product validation testing.

Can you drive these processes?
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a senior level technical team
  • Implement and optimize end-to-end systems that deliver mobile wireless connectivity over orbital platforms (GEO MEO LEO).
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate all at levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Aggregate, organize, and present complex technical information.
  • Efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects in parallel.

You should definitely have:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous avionics experience required.
  • 15+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to autonomously lead engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Superior communication skills, including technical documentation, written reports and proposals, development and delivery of presentations, and the ability to listen to and communicate effectively with leadership, peers, customers, and vendors.

It would be nice if you had:
  • A thorough understanding of airworthiness standards, including DO-160, D6-, ABD100-
  • Previous experience related to wireless connectivity solutions strongly preferred.
