Job Description
Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Travis AFB, CA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position will be located at the 60th MDG Travis AFB, Directorate of Resource Management, Financial Management Division. Travis Air Force Base in California is located in Solano County in Northern California. It is halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Instrument Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Repair, maintain, calibrate, and install instrument devices or equipment to make the hyperbaric chamber system operational. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: The employee frequently performs moderately heavy lifting, pulling, and carrying of equipment and material up 40 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders and working in cramped positions as well as making confined space entries. At times, works in awkward positions and restricted spaces where coordination of hands, legs and body are needed to perform tasks.
- Working Conditions: Works in a Hospital setting inside and outside. Danger of burns and shocks when working with electricity, being cut or hurt while working with hand or power tools. Possibility of being hurt while handling compressed gas cylinders. Exposed to high noise levels and vibrations of compressors and other similar machinery.
