Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversees various collateral management operational processes, including margin call processing, settlements, substitutions, dispute management, and the preparation of management reports, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Oversees derivatives client account onboarding processes, including initiating requests for new trading agreements, coordinating account setups with brokers, custodians, and third-party service providers, configuring trading and investment operations systems, and maintaining client and account reference data.
• Coordinates operational support of new complex products and fund launches. Leads the derivatives operational onboarding for Nuveen proprietary funds and products.
• Leads the implementation of new derivatives instruments and counterparties.
• Implements process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, mitigate risk, and strengthen operational controls. Leads derivatives operations strategic initiatives and coordinates project efforts across derivatives operations.
• Collaborates with legal counsel and outside auditors on filings, examinations, reporting, and other related tasks as needed. Provides derivatives operational support for regulatory compliance.
• Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional operational processes and to foster team member engagement, motivation, and development.

Nuveen is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial investment operations leader for Manager, Derivatives Client and Funding Operations role. This role will be a part of Nuveen Global Investment Operations and will report into the MD, Head of Derivatives Operations. The Derivatives Client and Funding Operations Manager will lead a growing team of associates responsible for derivatives client account onboarding, derivatives margin and collateral management operations, and supporting derivatives operations strategic initiatives. Within this role, the Derivatives Client and Funding Operations Manager will drive the operational strategy for supporting the growth of the business and lead the build out of the derivatives client account onboarding functions and team. The Derivatives Client and Funding Operations Manager will also be a key contributor to the Nuveen Middle Office Transformation strategic initiative, leading the implementation of margin and collateral management operations onto Nuveen's strategic outsourcing solution.

The Nuveen Global Investment Operations team provides operational support for investment activities across Nuveen and its affiliates and plays a leadership role in the transformation of how services are delivered to our internal clients. This includes the continued integration of affiliates onto future state platforms, consolidation and validation of data, process improvement and risk mitigation, and the implementation of new capabilities to support the rapid growth of assets under management and the complexity of assets managed. Stakeholder identification, engagement, and communication are an essential component of successful outcomes.

Required Skills:

• 5 or more years of experience within financial services.
• Ability to build relationships with critical stakeholders across investments, trading, and operations.
• Possess subject matter expertise of derivatives instruments and how they are operationally supported.
• Possess basic working knowledge of the lifecycle of various securities and an understanding of how the different areas of investment operations work together.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and critically analyze and resolve issues that arise within their operational function.

Preferred Skills:

• 7 or more years of experience within investment operations or financial derivatives.
• Strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity, with genuine interest in investments.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on client service and follow through.
• Strong knowledge of asset management investment products, asset management industry, and global markets.
• Expert knowledge or familiarity with derivatives systems and service providers.
• Working knowledge of derivatives regulatory requirements.
• Direct people management experience.

Base Pay Range: $112,500/yr. - $155,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
