Basic Function:
The purpose of this position is to leverage innovation and creativity while operating in a subject matter expert role with business leaders across the entire Southern Company Gas enterprise. This role is intended to support Field Operations, Resource Management, Customer Experience, Safety, Training, and the Technology Organization (TO) with process and technology solutions and integration at the enterprise level.
Must be able to demonstrate by example, how to develop and implement innovative programs designed to increase revenues, decrease expenses, establish relationships, ensure customer satisfaction, and establish Southern Company as a leading provider of energy services.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
The position of a Manager, Operations Support is intended for an individual who demonstrates leadership qualities that are consistent with Our Values - Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance and Total Commitment.
• Key areas of focus: driving safety excellence, ensuring quality and compliance, focusing on customer satisfaction, leading change, and project management.
• Serve as a liaison between the TO organization and the following departments:
Field Operations including Asset Protection, Construction Ops, Corrosion, Meter Reading, System Operations and back office/clerical departments, Resource Management, Customer Experience, Safety, Training, Reporting
• Communicates with business leaders on a routine basis to understand challenges and areas of opportunity.
• Creates and communicates business processes in a user group format to all work groups.
• Develops a communication plan and feedback loop for business units to identify problems and solutions.
• Provides recommendations for business process improvements.
• Collaborates with Safety & Training to implement ensure that changes align with their initiatives
• Maintains knowledge and relationships in subject area(s). Ex: Field Operations CT training and ride along
• Supports the TO organization as a product owner for field operations and resource management applications
- Serves as a liaison to technical operations for application changes, updates and system outages.
• Manages relationships with vendors and suppliers
Education and Experience:
Required:
• BA/BS business related degree
• 5-7 years natural gas field operations and/or Resource Management experience
• 5-7 years working in a process environment
Preferred
• MBA
• 2-3 years project management experience
Or
Equivalent academic education and experience
Skills:
Required:
• Excellent verbal, written and facilitation skills
• Analytical Skills
• Knowledge and experience with policies, procedures, codes (both local and state) and standards required within Southern Company Gas service areas
• Iintermediate proficiency, strong technical knowledge relating to gas operations
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Field and Resource Management scheduling systems
• Reporting systems (Reviewer / PowerBi / MSRS / CX / Oracle)
Preferred:
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience
• Project management skills
• Field technical knowledge
• Process redesign
• Technology implementation
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred
• Six Sigma or related process discipline
• Visio flow chart process mapping

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Physical Requirements
• Normal office environment with 50% keyboarding
• Working on various job sites and excessive driving up to four (4) hours at a time
• Potential for occasional overnight travel
• Required to be on call occasionally
• Available 24/7 for emergency situations or coverage as needed
