a diversified, multichannel distribution network.
The architect is a technical leader who evaluates both business and technical requirements to create an overall application architecture design for development and implementation. In this role, you will provide overall direction on technical process and products that support the growth strategy of AIG. This will include application design, build and maintaining product customizations, and enhancements and integrations that support the business strategy.
You will be a key stakeholder in determining the future state of our systems, with a strong focus on digital capabilities. This will include the evaluation of current state applications, defining the roadmap in support of business needs, improving the user experience, and reducing complexity.
This is a senior level role that will interact with key business leads on strategic projects. The successful incumbent must have strong leadership and influencing skills and be a strategic thinker. 10+ years of relevant and industry experience.

About the role
What you need to know:
- Develop and maintain an aspirational architectural road map for all Digital aspects of the organization.
- Support Global Client Technology teams to deliver Digital solutions.
- Support Claims Technology teams to support Claims Digital Portals.
- Understanding of the Underwriting and Claims end to end processes.
- Ability to architect end to end user journeys.
- Define technology strategy and architecture decisions for strategic Digital programs.
- Partner with regional stakeholders and governing boards to enforce architecture standards.
- Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations.
- Gain GI organizational commitment for enterprise level architecture and infrastructure initiatives.
- Ensure compliance to Enterprise and GI architectural standards, policies and practices.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies.
What we're looking for:
- 10 years or more of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. 5+ years of industry experience.
- Strong leadership/influencing and negotiation skills.
- Insurance background a plus.
- Claims knowledge preferable.
- Able to see big picture/strategic thinker.
- Strong technical knowledge of digital environments including Frontend technologies i.e. Angular/React, APIs, Messaging, Microservice Architecture, Networks and their interactions.
- Understanding of technical architecture and application systems design and integration in a large heterogeneous enterprise environment.
- Experience working with open source code and frameworks.
- Experience with modern monitoring capabilities including APM (New Relic, Dynatrace, AppDynamics) as well as other instrumentation technologies.
- Experience creating web architecture designs that incorporate resiliency and performance.
- Experience with Cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure and PaaS platforms such as Cloud Foundry, OpenShift.
- Experience with Cloud Native development and building 12 factor applications.
- Experience and Understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps, Test Automation, Application Modernization.
