Job Description

We are looking to hire a Sr. Accounting Manager for our corporate office located in Phoenix, Arizona off Ray Rd. and I-10 freeway. This position will be a part of the leadership team and help make decisions about the direction and growth of our company. We are a privately helped consulting company with annual revenue around 6 million with employees based out of Arizona, New Mexico, Florida and Ohio.

Looking for someone to create and manage an Accounting department including payroll. Currently on QuickBooks but need to move to ADP or another software by 2024.

What you will do as a Sr. Accounting Manager

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to: cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger.
  • Oversee daily operations, prepare reports for company executives, develop standards and processes for accurate and timely financial management.
  • Cash and Expense Management
  • Act as the POC for annual audits (401k, Workman's Comp, Year End, GL)
  • Payroll processing (includes prevailing wage reporting in some instances)
  • Business License renewals

Primary Responsibilities for Sr. Accounting Manager

  • Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Present financial reports to management, stakeholders, and auditors. 
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with department heads and executives to establish financial goals and strategies.
  • Track actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts, investigating and explaining variances.
  • Tax Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely filing of tax returns.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to manage tax planning and strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance internal controls.
  • Implement best practices and standardized procedures across the accounting function.
  • Participate in system implementations and upgrades to enhance financial reporting and analysis capabilities.

What you need to qualify as a Sr. Accounting Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A master's degree or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team, including performance management and development.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Applications including Word and Outlook
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience impementing ADP for payroll etc.
  • Experience in consulting or recruitment ndustry HIGHLY Desired.
