Summary
This position is located at MWR, Community Recreation Division, and will be referred out to Aquatics.

Duties
Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
Fifteen(15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
All required certifications must be kept current.
Successfully complete all required background checks to include a health screening.
Must be available to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on the organization's needs.
Must be willing to work irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid
Education
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Allowances and Differentials
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

You must provide and upload legible copy/copies of the following: DD-214 (member 4/2 copy), "Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty", showing all dates of service, as well as character of service (Honorable, General, etc.) or Statement of Service/Proof of Service (in lieu of a DD-214) from your command or local Personnel Support Detachment (PSD).
This is an intermittent (Flexible) appointment with no guaranteed hours. Flexible positions will normally be scheduled between 0-40 hours per week dependent upon the needs of the organization.
