Summary / Role Purpose

As an intern in the Ansys academic program, you will work on a variety of impactful projects supporting the Academic Development team. Attached to the office of the CTO, the academic development team utilizes the latest Ansys software technology to help educators teach fundamental and applied topics of engineering education.

As part of the role, you will assist with the development of education resources, using either Ansys Zemax OpticStudio, Ansys Lumerical or Ansys Speos. Depending on your area of expertise topics will range from the nano level light-material interactions, to ray tracing or systems. The resources are published on Ansys Innovation space.

Furthermore, you will be able to learn about teaching pedagogy and requirements for educational content to design successful User Experience in digital context.

This position is ideal for university students looking for a placement opportunity as part of their course, or recent graduates looking to gain experience in a technical environment. This role works in collaboration with a team of expert professionals to accomplish team's goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research and development of relevant case studies, lecture units for undergraduate engineering teaching courses, using Ansys software.
  • Create and test simulation files to embed in educational resources.
  • Convert existing Ansys video tutorial content into educational resources (i.e. lectures and case studies) to expand simulation-focused educational content.
  • Create slides, demos and scripts educators will use in teaching with Ansys software.
  • Support with EduHUB content creation on Ansys Innovation Space.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Physics, Electrical, Electronic and Optical Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with either Ansys Zemax OpticStudio, Ansys Lumerical or Ansys Speos software
  • Good knowledge in optics or photonic engineering from a general engineering course or specialized course
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Team player, responsible and self-motivated
