Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado in the Department of Preventive Medicine.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Maintain patient records according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.
Enter labs and/or x-ray order into medical records for providers signatures.
Obtain vital signs, height/weight measurements, and health assessments for military and civilian personnel.
Administer immunizations and TB skin tests to patient and to record results in the medical records.
Perform audiograms, vision testing, pulmonary function testing, electrocardiograms (EKGs).
Obtain serum and urine specimens from patients and prepare specimens for shipping to contract lab.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) Certification within 180 days of hire.
The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Certification to perform pulmonary function testing within 180 days of hire.
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
Required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
This position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) counseling patients on test results; 2) conducting occupational health tests in any of the following (audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, electrocardiograms); 3) taking vital signs; AND 4) operating an automated system to input and retrieve medical information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as biology, health informatics, biomedical sciences or audiometry or spirometry related coursework. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.
