Summary The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders. See http://www.sss.gov/. Qualifications Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Education or Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. GS-9 Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-9, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Drafting a variety of publications for review in adherence with technical guidelines; 2. Distributing publications across rural locations; AND 3. Preparing large printing projects. MUST MEET ALL -OR - Education: Have 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D. if related). -OR- Combination of Experience and Education: Have a combination of graduate level education beyond the first year of progressive graduate study and appropriate experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. GS-11 Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Developing a variety of publications in adherence with technical guidelines; 2. Distributing publications across rural locations; 3. Preparing large printing projects; AND. 4. Conducting outreach and organizing meetings. MUST MEET ALL -OR - Education: Have 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or LL.M, if related. -OR- Combination of Experience and Education: Have a combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of progressive graduate study and appropriate experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. GS-12: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Developing a variety of publications in adherence with technical guidelines; 2. Distributing publications across rural locations; 3. Preparing large printing projects; 4. Conducting outreach and organizing meetings; AND 5. Developing and implementing communication plans. MUST MEET ALL. NOTE: At the GS-12 level you may NOT substitute education for experience. Driver's License Requirement: Please note: You will be required to operate a government vehicle, to complete assigned tasks (i.e. site visits, field research, etc.); therefore, you must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. If selected for this position, you will be extended a tentative offer of employment pending a satisfactory background check. Current Federal employees or individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check; these will be handled on a case-by-case basis in coordination with the Bureau security office.
