Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Facility Operations Division, Mechanical Systems Branch, Mechanical Systems Day or Evening Sections. Duties The tour of duty for this position is Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Hours may be flexible within core business hours or may change due to operational needs. This position is emergency essential. Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.  The incumbent is an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic and installs, repairs and modifies air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems that regulate climatic conditions. Duties include, but are not limited to: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Assembly, Operation, Upkeep and Repair Run and sustain air conditioning equipment throughout offices and other facilities requiring critical control of temperatures. Fuse chilled water or refrigerant lines to condensers, evaporators, compressors and controls. Evacuate, dehydrate and charge system with appropriate refrigerants. Check for refrigerant leakages. Reset controls essential to maintain desired temperatures, pressure and humidity. Air Conditioning Troubleshooting Diagnose problems in control systems following trouble calls or inspections. Fabricate new and/or repairs parts such as hinges, flanges, pipe joints and bearing sleeves, which can require welding. Electronic Equipment Maintenance Perform installations, modification, overhauls, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fixes integrated systems to achieve functional interoperability of BACNET Direct Digital Control Systems such as Automated Logic, Reliable and or WEB Controls, along with major non-BACNET DDC systems, such as Siemens. Install, troubleshoot, and operate ALC software. Manage and troubleshoot the Building Automation System (BAS) controlling HVAC equipment, such as valves, dampers, and sensors. Make adjustments as needed to control points in the BAS to address client comfort, system efficiency and energy conservation. Alter Variable Frequency Drives, digitally entering the proper variables into the systems. Check systems for suitable running cycles, refrigerant and oil leakages, motor and compressor temperatures, belt adjustment and replacement, set points, cleanliness, operations and superheat rotation and heating protection. WG-08: Ability to perform Air Conditioning Equipment Worker duties without more than normal supervision. WG-10: Ability to do the work of a journey level Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision.
