This is a temporary appointment. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status and will be for a period not-to-exceed 1039 hours in a service year. Duties Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems. Reviews initial documents being filed for adherence to the filing requirements, examines the appropriate land status records to determine allowable uses and assists with processing of payments and filing of legal documents. Serves as a records custodian to land and mineral status records within the scope of the organization. Serves as a backup Docket as needed. Maintain records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Copying case file folders, including master title plats, historical indexes, survey records, and patents. Provides legal copies of official records and documents as requested. Reviews initial documents being filed for adherence to the filing requirements, examines the appropriate land status records to determine allowable uses, and assists with processing of payments and filing of legal documents. Qualifications In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To qualify for the GS-05, you must satisfy one of the requirements described below: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Advising and assisting customers with a variety of problems, questions, or situations; applying standardized rules, processes, and procedures; tracking computerized records; converting, indexing, and scanning records; filing; correspondence; processing financial transactions; using Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office; and safeguarding personally identifiable information. -OR- Education: Successful completion of 4 years of education above high school with a major of study in any field. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of study is 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or 20 hours of instruction per week for 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. Transcripts must be provided.. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position by combining specialized experience and appropriate education according to the following formula: (a) your total months of full time specialized experience as a percentage of a 12 month total; PLUS (b) your total number of qualifying undergraduate semester or quarter hours as a percentage of four years of undergraduate study. The total of the two percentages must equal at least 100 percent. Transcripts must be provided. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work involves sitting and standing, typically in a public room environment. Moderate lifting of plats and public information documents may be required. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office building that requires normal safety precautions. Education Applicants may qualify for these positions based on experience, education, or an equivalent combination as described in the Qualifications section of this announcement. These positions are temporary and are expected to last for up to 6 months.
