Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.Under the general supervision of the Director, the Education Specialist develops, implements/oversees plans, policies and procedures for all education programs of the Library. Incumbent guided chiefly by general principles of good educational and museum practices and administration; overall library objectives and policies; and by knowledge of historical and social science research and educational methodologies. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. A one year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Nationals. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Designing and facilitating professional development programs for educators at the K-12 level that includes best practices for integrating primary resources and archival material into classroom instruction; AND Creating educational curriculum that integrates primary resources and archival materials for students at the K-12 level; AND Leading volunteers, interns, paid, or non-paid staff in the performance of presenting educational material. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience must include. Designing and facilitating professional development programs for educators at the K-16 level that includes best practices for integrating primary resources and archival material into classroom instruction; AND Creating educational curriculum that integrates primary resources and archival materials for students at the K-16 level; AND Leading volunteers, interns, paid, or non-paid staff in the performance of presenting educational material. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR A combination of education and experience: Graduate level education in excess of the first two years (36 hours or more) can be combined to meet the experience. One year of full-time graduate education is considered 18 semester hours. Example: Six-months of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 and 36 semester hours of appropriate education, equal 100% qualifying experience. Education Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
