3D Designer

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

In collaboration with the entire Product Creation Team, the goal is to lead in 3D footwear expertise, application and strategy. Maintain, innovate and execute on the 3D design direction harmoniously across footwear. These design ideas and solutions will shape the look and feel of adidas footwear.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with footwear design team to

• Drive innovation to inspire and lead the adoption of new design methods
• Execute creation of 3D footwear through surface modelling, generative design, sculpting, material and hardware application, as well as visualization and rendering based on the footwear last.
• Identify opportunities of improvement for your category and advise changes to the end to end process.

Training and Implementation

• With your team lead, effectively implement new digital creation strategic goals and solutions
• Organize testing for new technologies and processes helping provide fact-based feedback and requirements to IT
• Collaborate with designers and cross-functional team members to ensure end-to-end benefits and innovations are achieved

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Highly skilled in Footwear creation using 3D modeling software (Rhino, Autodesk Maya Grasshoper, Zbrush, Blender or equivalent) to create accurate and detailed 3D based on footwear last for exploration and physical sampling.
• Self-motivated, high level of organization skills, ability to deliver on timelines in full
• Expert in Modo or comparable 3D applications (Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema 4D, other), with advanced knowledge of rendering/lighting setup, color and shading.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with team and quickly shift focus when direction changes
• Problem solving mindset and ability to find success through challenges
• Strong visual skills with the ability to create impactful/exciting visuals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Expert in sketching and drawing methods (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, with other apps a plus)
• Experience designing footwear and/or apparel product is a plus
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

• Under-graduate level Design, Technical Design, 3D, or related education experience
• At least 3 Years of experience in 3D Visualization or Design (Footwear preferred)
• Experience with the entire product design process (project scope, planning, timelines, production/execution of design solution)
• Passion for adidas and it's mission
