Summary
About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Medicine, Department of Medicine Allergy Clinic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
Duties
Coordinate nursing care activities to include patient safety and education.
Administer medications with physicians orders after completion of medication administration competency test.
Provide comprehensive direct nursing care to patients based on the physician's medical plan.
Administer oxygen, IV piggyback medications, IV fluids, and oral medications.
Transport patients to other services, departments, and/or facilities.
Perform a variety of administrative tasks for the Pain Clinic in support of the Head Nurse.
Assist in managing the Performance Improvement Plan for the clinic.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current Practical (Vocational) licensure with no limitations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Practical Nurse:
Licensure: A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; OR must have applied for a license to practice. Applications of candidates possessing a license must be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of the license, a notarized statement attesting to the fact, or a citation of the license number and State issuing it. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. Those not licensed must furnish the date on which they applied for a license and the jurisdiction involved. No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:
Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as measuring patients vital signs; administering medications via various routes; screening medical records and managing appointments. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
