Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as the principal assistant and primary advisor to the Chief, Safety Office, in executing the overall District safety and occupational health program. Serves as acting chief during chief's absence.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
This position requires the wearing of protective clothing and gear.
The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
This position may require lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
This is a Career Program 12 (CP-12) Position and all ACTEDS requirements apply, to include, as a condition of employment, employee must attain CP-12 Level I Certificate within twelve months of hire.

This is an Obligated Position: TERM NTE 13 Months maybe made permanent.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Surveying workplace for occupational safety and health requirements violations. 2) Assisting managers in planning and managing a comprehensive safety and occupational health program to eliminate or control risk of injury to personnel, and 3) Provide innovative analyses of high risk activities involving construction and environmental health hazards.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
