Catering Assistant

Summary This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program. The purpose of this position is to assist the Vista Point Club Manager in the effective scheduling, coordination and communication of all food & beverage operations including catered functions and special events. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately. Must have knowledge of basic English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Must have the skills of a qualified typist and the ability to operate an electric typewriter and personal computer. Must have working knowledge of MS Office software (Excel, Word and Access). Must be skilled in telephone answering and customer service techniques, using tact and good judgement. Supervisory Controls Works under the direct supervision of the Consolidated Club Coordinator, who evaluates performance, and serves as the primary point of contact for questions, concerns, and/or problems. Work is reviewed in terms of quality, efficiency and adherence to established standards and procedures. Work is performed independently and is generally repetitive in nature. Guidance and assistance are available for unusual problems or unprecedented situations. Guidelines are contained in written local and departmental policies. Judgement is used in interpreting and adapting guidelines to meet program objectives. The supervisor is available for guidance and assistance in unusual or unprecedented situations. Scope and Effect/Complexity The work involves the consideration and selection of various methods or techniques defined in policies to accomplish the catering office function. Variations in the work usually are handled with relative ease and without adversely affecting activities. The quality of work affects the smooth operation of the facility and patron satisfaction. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. Additional information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements.
