Job Description
Summary
This position is located at Aquatics. Incumbents for these vacancies can be assigned at West Beach, Lake Tholocco, PFC Indoor Pool, or Flynn Pool and may be transferred between facilities as the need arises
Incentives and Bonuses
Incentives will not be paid.
Duties
Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies.
Assists with scheduling of employees. Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests.
Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest. Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility.
Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020.
Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures
Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Issues towels and checks identification as required.
Maintains daily logs and records as required.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Must attend Team Member Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. A flexible employee serves in a continuing position on a scheduled or as needed basis.
This position has varying/rotating shifts which includes Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays
Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
Successful completion of health assessment which documents good physical health, freedom from communicable disease IAW current Army.
All required certifications must be kept current.
Incumbent may be subject to additional background checks, with periodic reverification.
Must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected).
In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
This position requires incumbent to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following Certifications:
American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).
American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification).
American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.
Note: Lifeguard Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application to be considered eligible. To be evaluated as a qualified candidate, your resume must clearly reflect the knowledge and experience.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Best Qualified":
Possess at least six (6) months experience in a leadership role. NOTE: Experience must be supported on resume to meet the best qualified criteria.

Area of Consideration
This job is open to candidates who live in the local commuting area (U.S. Citizens and Non U.S. Citizens that live within 50 miles of Ft. Rucker AL). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

PCS Costs
Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
