Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Carson West located in Fort Carson, Colorado. This position may offer a $10,000 recruitment bonus (see Additional Information Section). THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR). This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Assisting with plans and lay outs of work, helping to determine repair work needed, operating various shop equipment, and helping to cut, bend and form metal parts. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical effort: Makes repairs from ladders, scaffolds and toeboards and where parts worked on are in hard to reach places that require climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts items that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. Working conditions: Works in well-lighted but noisy shop and outside subject to heat, cold, and inclement weather. There is continuous exposure to disagreeable odors, smoke, and fumes. Wears protective masks, aprons, and goggles. There are dangers of cuts, falls, burns, and injuries from hand and power tools. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information This position offers a $10,000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a Federal Government civilian employee or if you have a minimum of a 90 day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time-limited or NOT a permanent appointment. Your recruitment bonus will be made in two payments of $5,000. You receive the first payment when you enter on duty, second payment at your one year anniversary. This bonus requires a two year service obligation to the Army Reserve Military Technician Program. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. This position may offer a relocation incentive for current Federal Government civilian employees. This incentive requires a service obligation.
