Summary You will serve as a Freight Rate Specialist in the Distribution Management Office, Logistics Division, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector procuring common carrier and other transportation service by rail, motor, air, water, and/or miscellaneous means for freight and/or materials and performing the following: 1) Determining the appropriate freight classification and shipment method for outgoing material based on size/weight, priority, and required delivery date. 2) Accepting preparing, and issuing all documentation required for ship and receive freight. 2) Applying knowledge of regulations regarding the movement of Dangerous/Hazardous materials IAW with the 49CFR or other applicable policies and instructions, and publications. 3) Utilizing thorough knowledge of tariff rates and related and regulatory guidance for the movement and routing of freight. 4) Communicating effectively and working well with others. 5) Responding to situations and/or problems when assisting customers, organizations, and contractors. 6) Utilizing databases, and office automation software to maintain shipping documentation Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education There is no educational substitution for experience in this series at this grade level. Additional information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
