Job Description

Summary This position is part of the Hanford Field Office, Department of Energy. As a Tribal Affairs Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing tribal nation issues and policy support in implementing the Department of Energy, American Indian and Alaska Native Tribal government policy. This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period. A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check. Hiring incentives may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate based on budget availability and in accordance with federal regulations. This position is included in a Bargaining Unit. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 3 of the following Develop strategies to implement program activities in compliance with state or federal regulations. Prepare written material (briefing materials, talking points, etc.) to be used when representing an agency or organization at high level meetings and conferences. Facilitate and negotiate for an agency or organization with third parties (stakeholders, tribal nations, etc.) in support of program activities or goals. There are no specific education requirements or substitution of education for experience for this position. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as scoring in the in Well Qualified category (or higher).
