Summary About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Engineer Lab. This position is located in Hanover, New Hampshire. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Interfacing with high-level military and civilian officials and high-profile visitors; Arranging complex travel orders to include securing passports, visas, reservations, and transportation arrangements; Validating completion of actions based on Command's views, policies, and practices; Coordinating meetings and briefings at the executive level; and Answering significant inquiries on status of requirements, procedures, formats, and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-02 (GS-5). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-03 (equivalent to GS-6/7).
