Summary
This position is located at Yuma Proving Ground, AZ.

Duties
Works under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as a Recreation Assistant.
Instructs groups and individuals in a variety of outdoor recreation programs, such as but not limited to rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, and challenge course activities.
Incumbent is responsible for group management. The safety of the participants must always be the number one priority.
Effectively communicate to participants who have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Teaches children as well as adults.
Must be familiar with all programs offered by Outdoor Recreation, as well as be familiar with local area as the position requires providing information to customers.

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
Must have or be able to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification.
If water rafting is part of the duties, satisfactory completion of required Raft Guide Training must be completed within three weeks of appointment. Failure to successfully completed required training may result in separation.
Physical and health assessment are required.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Experience, education and/or specialized training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and skill in Outdoor Recreation.
Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits.
NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents. A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application.

Area of Consideration
This job is open to candidates who reside in the local commuting area (defined as a 50-mile radius) of Yuma Proving Ground, AZ. The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Worldwide. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

Allowances and Differentials
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
