GOLF SUPERINTENDENT SPECIALIST

Summary This position will be assigned to Joint Base Charleston, SC. This is a two-year developmental trainee program. The selectee will enter as an NF-03 with a salary range of $50K-$60K and upon successfully completing the first year, be promoted to an NF-04 with a salary range of $60K-$70K. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, the participant will outplace to an Air Force Installation as a Golf Course Superintendent. This position requires the incumbent to complete a Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results. Incumbent must sign the Air Force Mobility Agreement with the expectation of an approximate 3 to 5 year change of assignment. Based on the mobility agreement and meeting the needs of the Air Force. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave. Qualifying Experience: Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of golf turf maintenance as would be gained through an accredited golf turf management 4-year school. Ability to deal effectively with employees, supervisors, members and their guests within and outside the activity. Knowledge of golf course construction and golfing techniques is preferred. Knowledge of grass seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, soils and sand mixtures is desirable. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
