Job Description

Summary This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform various duties to facilitate food preparation; food service, maintain cooking and serving equipment and areas in a clean and orderly condition. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. The incumbent performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort which requires continuous standing and walking and frequently stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Frequently lifts or moves cart weighing up to 20 pounds. Qualifications Ability to perform tasks involving several procedures. Knowledge of food handling techniques and portion control. Have ability to perform basic arithmetic. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Must have a working knowledge or ability to learn sanitation standards. Working knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination, such as the need to clean equipment previously used for raw food before further use and the need to use a chemical sanitizer or maintain proper water temperature when cleaning dishes. Must be able to pass food service screening and training. Education N/A Additional information Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs. According to the Executive Order, all Federal employees are required to remain drug free throughout their employment. Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Command is a Drug-Free Federal Workplace.
