The Vision Institute at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is seeking an Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join our world class health system.  Must have completed an Oculoplastic Surgery fellowship and be BC/BE in Ophthalmology with the ability to obtain a PA license.About the position: Help to grow the department's already well-established multidisciplinary care pathways by fostering ties to the primary and specialty care physicians, both inside and outside the department.Teach and precept residents and fellows in our hospitals, clinics, and operating rooms Research is abundant, and there is the potential (in both volume and willingness) to start an ASOPRS fellowshipClinical practice opportunities are available at the UPMC Mercy, UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Oakland campuses and at our St. Margaret’s satellite, where there is a well-established practice with real potential for growth of its cosmetic armCollaborative team committed to academic advancementJoin a group of 59 total physicians, a division of 2 Oculoplastic Surgeons, 43 Ophthalmologists and 14 OptometristsPractice locations include UPMC Vision Institute at the Mercy Pavilion and Oakland.Hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 with one ½ day administrative sessionWhat we OfferCompetitive compensation with productivity incentive bonusRobust benefit package recognized for its generosity and comprehensive coverage.25 days PTO/year $3,000/year CME dollars plus 5 daysPaid occurrence-based malpractice insuranceMedical, dental and vision insurance, Short and long-term disability, optional group life insurance and robust retirement plansMoving expenses up to $10K for qualified moves About the UPMC Vision Institute and UPMC UPMC Vision Institute is consistently ranked highly for National Institutes of Health funding for departments of ophthalmology and has one of the top basic and clinical research programs in the country.Research focuses on ocular immunology, infectious disease, molecular genetics, molecular biology of retinal disease and glaucoma, and advanced diagnostic imaging technology development.A specialty facility on the campus of UPMC Mercy will serve patients who have diseases of the eye or vision impairment and those who need physical rehabilitation. It contains 410,000 square feet of collaborative space for clinicians, researchers, educators, and industry partners, a state-of-the-art facility to deliver gene ad cell therapy for the eye, an innovative, fully mocked-up apartment where patients can relearn critical life skills, a 3-D street lab with simulated city streets, offices, and meeting rooms to help patients with low vision navigate their surroundings.
