Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Auto Hobby Shop on Holloman AFB, NM. This position is a flexible position (0-40 hours). Work schedule is typically Tuesday through Saturday with occasional weekends. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Duties The primary purpose of this position is to provide customer service in the check out and receipt of automotive repair equipment, inventory maintenance and scheduling appointments for use of automotive repair/paint stalls within Skills Development. The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to: Issues, receives and schedules use of equipment, tools and repair/paint stalls for patrons. Uses chit or other parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools. Determines type of repair job involved and suggests a variety of tools needed to accomplish the repair. Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair or pit stall and removal of excess automotive parts. Ensures tools turned-in are clean, assesses breakage or damage if any; charging customer for tools according to prescribed price listing. Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures. Maintains inventory control records of items issued, conducts minor maintenance and repair of tools and equipment. Accounts for condition, inspects tools upon return, bins, stores or replaces item with new. Arranges tools and parts as stock is replenished or added. Develops display pegboards, cleans and grinds tools requiring sharp edges. Always maintains a clean and orderly work area. May be required to act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian. This position requires the incumbent to work shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and network access. This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools and parts; good work shop practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized and secure storage area; inventory procedures and records maintenance. Must have experience working with patrons providing quality customer service. Must be able to follow written and/or oral instruction Make simple mathematical computations and be able to follow cash handling procedures. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
