Painter Helper Trainee

Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Paint Shop in Baltimore, MD. Duties You will be responsible for assisting Painter Journeymen and Sandblasters by performing tasks involved in surface preparation, touch up painting and assisting with spray equipment. Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable member of the team. Typical duties include: * Carrying supplies, materials and tools to and from work sites. * Removing grease, old paint, dirt, rust and scale from metal surfaces by using hand tools and power tools. * Assisting Painter Journeymen with spray painting operations and equipment set up. * Assisting Sandblasters in sandblasting operations on repair vessels interior/exterior. * Performing housekeeping duties involving hazardous materials and general cleanup. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
