Job Title: Anatomical Pathology Information System Administrator

Reports to: Manager Laboratory (Anatomical Pathology)

Purpose of the Role: The Anatomical Pathology Information System Administrator works together with teams such as IT/Business Integration Laboratory Operations Medical Director QRA Project management Business Development Flow cytometry Genetics Microbiology and Pathologists to solve business problems with available technology databases and peripherals. They provide direction to internal teams through the optimization and addition of system functionality.

Core Accountabilities:
  • Proactively monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of applications by troubleshooting and documenting user reported issues.
  • Monitors Interface error billing and issues logs
  • Monitors APIS security system configurations
  • Provides resolution of reported Copath malfunctions and issues
  • Coordinates with other systems managers including IntRlab Database Systems Network Intel Security Desk Side IT Support and equipment vendors to resolve minor to complex malfunctions.
  • Reports and works with the Vendor (Cerner) for the following: Application issues via Service Requests; Selection of optimal proposed resolutions; Required customizations and upgrades
  • Works with teams such as IT/Business Integration Lab Ops Medical Director QRA Project management Business Development Flow cytometry Genetics Microbiology and Pathologists to solve business problems with available technology databases and peripherals. Provides direction to Internal teams by optimizing additional functionality
  • Collaboration with colleagues regarding adequacy and performance to ensure system offers the highest possible reliability and usability.
  • Always looking for efficiencies and better workflows to expand the usage and effectiveness of the application
  • Create unique industry services to facilitate revenue growth
  • Create and validate reports and templates
  • Run monthly and ad hoc statistical reports for various stakeholders including specialized collaborative billing reports for pathologists in conjunction with Level 2BI
  • Implement approved changes to meet the ever-evolving expectations of customers/users
  • Collaborate and oversees required changes and maintenance to the system by vendor
  • Participate in long-range strategizing technology research and future systems planning.
  • Organize and participates in CopathPlus meetings with QRA/Cerner/Lab Opps other user sites and Medical Director
  • Leads co-ordinates and tests system upgrades and system updates
  • CoPathTrain the Trainer – Trains new staff who will be part of the Copath System Manager team. Teaches an understanding of the supporting infrastructure architecture and relationships. Training includes how to troubleshoot resolve routine errors how to make changes in Copath to accommodate departments. Teach an understanding on which IT resources to tap for specific needs.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma.
  • 5 years previous experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to multitask and manage concurrent operational responsibilities and project assignments while reducing system down times
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to information gathering analyzing data for root cause determination brainstorming resolutions options with identified risks and the ability to formulate plans communicate train and execute agreed-upon action
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as in a multi team environment
  • Awareness of current and emerging directions of LL histology and cytology disciplines
  • Prioritizing Troubleshooting & Problem solving
  • Training experience/support to use applications effectively
  • Interface management: some familiarity with how HL7 works
  • Ability to customize aspects of the application which do not involve vendor (Training course provided by Vendor)
