You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying occupational hazards in a wide variety of industrial, manufacturing and aviation RDT&E sites; 2) Interpreting engineering drawings to determine if proposed safety control measures are in compliance with applicable safety standards; 3) Assessing and recommending new programs, modify existing programs, revise instructions, Industrial Hygiene Surveys, standard operating practices (SOP's), and standard work packages (SWP's) to update or develop new safety concepts for the activity and analyze loss prevention programs; 4) Informing and training supervisors and employees in the correct safety procedures to follow and instill motivation in employees to follow safe working conditions to alleviate mishaps. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Safety and Occupational Health Management Series 0018 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. or Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. or LL.M., if related Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/).
