Deputy for Readiness

Summary This position serves as a deputy to the Director of the Office of Safety, Health, and Emergency Preparedness (SHEP), leading and managing a team of staff who support planning, analysis, and coordination of a wide variety of emergency readiness activities supporting the Department and Departmental Offices (DO). A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience preforming work developing plans or contingencies for emergency or crisis management of an organization. Examples of this could include: -Experience leading and implementing emergency management and planning, continuity of operations, and continuity of government or corporate activities. OR -Experience directing and leading process improvement and team building. OR -Experience with critical infrastructure and workforce protection activities. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
