This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain DOD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Target System Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator), Assisting range complex manager and supporting personnel. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Must be able to operate both a four-wheel drive vehicle with standard transmission and an off-road all-terrain vehicle. Work requires driving on hazardous roads and terrain. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires rotation between training areas shift work, and weekend/holiday work and overtime may be required. Incumbent must be in good physical condition. Work requires frequent exposure to foul weather conditions. Position requires Range Safety Training and Certification, which may be obtain within one year of employment. Inability to obtain and maintain this certification may result in termination. This position is a Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) TARGET SYSTEM WORKER (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common tasks including troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or repairing target mechanism systems. Troubleshoot and/or repair electrical pop-up target mechanisms. Assist range personnel with inspecting, maintaining or serving computer systems, equipment or applications used in range operations. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. ??????? PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work requires inspection of field sites, necessitating walking, standing and climbing. Incumbent must be able to pick up and carry 45 pounds and up to 75 pounds with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all kinds of weather in an outdoor environment; however, some work is performed in an office environment. Some work is performed at range sites where the exposures to hazardous materials or instruments exist. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
