Duties You will maintain and repair installed electrical systems such as lighting fixtures and wiring, power fixtures and wiring, power sources, and/or services battery packs for emergency power systems. You will locate broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls, and equipment through visual checks or through use of a small variety of test equipment. You will make repairs by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures. You will plan tasks and determine appropriate steps and actions necessary to complete tasks. You will adhere to the National Electrical Code. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts items that weigh over 60 pounds with assistance from other workers. You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver’s license prior to appointment. Must be respirator and confined space trained within 6 months of appointment. This position requires the employee to have the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. Additional information The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption. The employee is required to perform callback overtime.
