Description Specialization:AdministrativeJob Summary:HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division has an
opportunity for a dynamic medical education leader to fill the role of Graduate Medical Education
Designated Institutional Official [DIO] and oversee residency and fellowship programs for HCA
Florida Aventura Hospital in Aventura, FL and HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, FL.Qualified
Candidates:Â
Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), other Doctorate-level (e.g., PhD, EdD,
JD), or other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Division Vice President of GME and facility
leadership. Prior experience as a DIO, significant experience as program director, or other GME
administrative role is highly preferred. Experience in undergraduate medical education
administration or other healthcare industry administration may be appropriate in certain
situations. For physicians, specialty board certification and eligibility for a license to practice
medicine in Florida is required
Responsibilities:Â
The DIOs are an integral part of HCA
Healthcare’s community of DIOs and its GME leadership team and have the authority and responsibility
for the oversight and administration of the Sponsoring Institution’s ACGME-accredited programs, as
well as for ensuring compliance with the ACGME Institutional, Common, and
specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements.The selected DIO will have oversight for 10+
residency and fellowship programs, with over 120 residents and fellows and will report to the East
Florida Division Vice President of Graduate Medical Education, as well as corporate GME leadership.
DIO will work closely with Division VP of GME and other Division and hospital leaders to improve the
educational quality of each program. Â DIO will lead the local GME team in constantly improving the
working and learning environment with the goal of creating a positive culture and an outstanding
experience for all residents and fellows.  DIO will monitor changes in ACGME accreditation
standards and requirements and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders within the
institution. The opportunity to work in a clinical setting will depend on the specialty and the
availability of a desired practice setting. For qualified candidates, there is the option of active
engagement with our partner medical school[s] and an appointment to the school’s academic faculty,
as well as the expectation of active engagement with national GME-related professional
organizations.

Healthcare’s East Florida Division is located in on the Southeastern seaboard of Florida with its
division headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their hospitals extend from Miami up the
eastern seaboard to Ft. Pierce, Florida and inland as far as Loxahatchee and Tamarac, Florida.
HCA’s East Florida Division Graduate Medical Education is a consortium of 12 UME and 9 GME teaching
hospitals with 50 residency and fellowship programs and has close affiliations with several local
and regional medical schools.
