Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts
Provides response to interpreted messages, (e.g., broadcasts Attempt to Locate/Be on the lookout to patrols, types response to sending agency, briefs appropriate person as to content of message, etc.)
Lead Police Officers are directly responsible for three or more DACP Officers, Military Policeman (MP) and on some installation, DA Security Guards (DASG), while on shift as outlined in the Patrol Distribution Plan (PDP).

Able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance
Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, assessed for emotional stability, judgment, adjusting to changes, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
Must complete of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
Must be able to pass training, certification and qualification requirements related Law Enforcement work functions to include: weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS)training requirements.
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
In accordance the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position; and is subject to removal from the position if found convicted after being employed
Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement.
Mission Essential designated position during Inclement Weather Conditions or emergency conditions. In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
Able to obtain and maintain a US valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
You may be expected to travel a 10% of the time for this position.
Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
Must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Performing Law Enforcement Duties including conducting investigations, legal search and seizures, collect and protect evidence, prevent crime, and protect the life, property, and civil rights, and delegate tasks to make sound law enforcement decisions.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
