Duties Conducts studies of fire programs, functions, work processes, staffing levels, methods and procedures and other related criteria. Reviews operating regulations and directives and other pertinent sources to gather, correlate, analyze, determine and recommend appropriate effectiveness. Analyzes and evaluates policies, procedures, guidelines and administrative processes. Reviews audit and investigative reports to determine appropriate changes or corrective action required. Responds to management requests to analyze problems and issues. Advises management on a variety of opportunities and options to increase organizational effectiveness. Provides direction and interpretation of administrative policies, procedures and guidelines to managers and co-workers. Requirements Conditions of employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Qualifications Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement(s); please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. To qualify for the GS-09 grade level, 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: Performing administrative support duties such as: gathering and reviewing statistical and program data; providing guidance on administrative policies and procedures; and using automated systems and databases to accomplish work activities, manipulate data and produce reports. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of Education for Experience: For the GS-09: a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years (32 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR an LL.B. or J.D; OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: No unusual physical exertion is required.
