Position Overview:
Diligent is looking for a Program Coordinator with experience in digital accessibility to drive strategic projects spanning across multiple teams and product lines. In this role, you will advocate for inclusion and find ways of embedding digital accessibility best practices into product development process. We are looking for a strong communicator, educator, independent problem solver, self-starter who can define new processes that enhance operations and reduce downstream issues. This role is a good fit for someone who can collaborate well, influence without authority and build trust while aiding teams in moving initiatives forward.
This position is part of the product team and digital Accessibility Program Coordinator will work closely with both individual contributors and managers from product, software engineering, UX designer, content writing, localization and quality assurance groups. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility processes and best practices into the design, development, and testing phases of digital projects.
- Develop communication strategies to inform stakeholders of accessibility policy, procedures and best practices.
- Proactively identify and address potential pain points, process gaps, and training needs. Coach, mentor and support product teams when it comes to accessibility. Influence engineering & design culture and practices of the teams.
- Support teams in developing remediation plans for identified accessibility issues, and coordinate with teams to implement necessary changes.
- Communicate and document project progress and status, manage dependencies, track and mitigate risk.
- Represent Diligent externally, engaging with partners and customers.
- Stay informed about advancements in digital accessibility standards and technologies, while continuously improving Diligent approach to digital accessibility.
Required Experience/Skills
- 3-5 years’ experience in Project Manager / Program Coordinator role
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence decisions without direct authority
- Knowledge around digital accessibility standards
- Outstanding organizational and coordination skills
- Strong problem solving, analytic, and time management skills
- Able to quickly learn to use new technology
- Experience collaborating cross functionally with team members in different time zones
- Experience working with external partners
Preferred Experience/Skills
- International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) Certifications: Web Accessibility Specialist, Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies, and/or Document Accessibility Specialist
- Experience with assistive technology such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Experience using Figma, Jira, Confluence or similar tools
- Deep familiarity with WCAG, ADA, Section 508
- Design, engineering or testing experience
- Patient, humble and hungry for knowledge
