The Accessories Product Design team at Apple is seeking a hardworking team member to help us create the next generation of the world's finest accessory devices! We work with internal and external product development partners to create a variety of innovative accessories for Apple devices. Together, we will conceive, design, and bring into production products that will re-define and enhance the mobile experience. We will work closely with many different multi-functional teams including Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Antenna, Reliability, Safety and Marketing to provide guidance to best in class accessory development partners. Description

Responsibilities include concept generation, architecture development, module integration, and knowledge transfer to development partners. Partner with internal resources for testing and analysis to ensure high quality product development and manufacturing. Guide development partners through custom component integration and test procedures. Oversee detailed engineering development and manufacturing ramp process.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSME
• Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical design (preferably working experience in consumer electronics)
• Strong fundamentals of engineering, such as strength of materials, material science, statics, heat transfer
• Design validation skills such as tolerance analysis, numerical analysis (FEA), mechanical prototyping, failure analysis, and design of experiments
This position will require domestic and international travel (up to 15%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong analytical/problem solving skills and general mechanical engineering analysis.
• Demonstrated expertise designing parts for a broad range of manufacturing processes, such as plastic injection molding, compression molding, metal stamping, metal injection molding, die casting, metal extrusion, metal machining, etc.
• Multi-functional design skills such as mechanism design, electro-mechanical integration and PCB mechanical design, design for high volume production (including statistical process control, fixture design, metrology)
• Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively to peers, subordinates, and executive staff.
• Experience using GD&T
• Experience as a Product Design Engineer leading cross-functional teams
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
