Position Summary
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of a portfolio of real estate properties. This includes prepares financial statements, processes accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciling accounts and bank statements, overseeing property budgets, preparing month-end close and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Senior Property Accountant reports to the Controller.
Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Property Accountant fulfills an integral role in the Finance Department and organization’s daily accounting operations.
• Monthly reporting, Cash Management
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Complete month-end journal entries including accruals and depreciation, compile reporting for various departments
• Analyze financials for month-to-month differences; research, and explain variances
• Meet with Controller monthly to go over balance sheet, income statement, and outstanding receivables
• Liaison with other departments on accounting transactions for properties
• Oversee the day-to-day processing of transactions in an effective, timely, and accurate manner
• Review and manages Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Control payment of invoices and process payment runs
• Work with the Real Estate Development team on Draw payments and maintain draw documentation
• Process payments received at the corporate office and process deposits
• Assist with budget and reforecast processes
• Conduct month-end and year-end close processes
• Support financial audit processes including providing required and detailed information
• Support organization’s tax compliance processes and management
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The Senior Accountant will possess the following education, experience, and competencies:
Education
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Experience
• Five years of experience in accounting
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in Real Estate accounting
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts and procedures
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of GAAP
• Proficient knowledge and understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Proficiency with accounting software packages like QuickBooks
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Excellent computational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective organization and time management skills
• Ability to be self-directed and function autonomously with integrity and ethics
• Ability to balance competing demands and effectively handle shifting priorities in a timely manner
• Ability to cultivate trusting relationships with colleagues
• High level of thoroughness, accuracy, and dependability

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
