Position Summary: TheAccountantposition at Health Projects Center occupies a pivotal role within our organization, ensuring financial stability and success of our mission-driven initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role collaborates seamlessly with the administrative and finance teams, playing a crucial part in coordinating and executing complex accounting projects. By overseeing the end-to-end management of Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, including the month-end close process, the Accountant ensures the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions critical to the organization's fiscal health. Their role is instrumental in addressing audit findings, resolving discrepancies, and contributing actively to the development of improved accounting systems, thereby safeguarding our financial integrity. This position, with its focus on internal controls, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement, aligns seamlessly with our commitment to delivering exceptional community-based programs. The Accountant can expect to receive supportive and insightful supervision from the Director of Finance, providing mentorship and guidance in maintaining the financial integrity and sustainability of Health Projects Center. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate seamlessly with members of the administrative team, finance team, and other program departments to coordinate and execute complex accounting projects. Ensure effective communication and synergy across diverse teams. • Maintain responsibility for the end-to-end management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, overseeing accounting functions and programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records by conducting self-review and identify/rectifying discrepancies. • Ensure that all accounting and financial reporting activities are completed with precision and in a timely manner. • Assist the Director of Finance in addressing and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and instances of non-compliance. Collaborate with the audit team to implement corrective measures and enhance financial controls. • Oversee the management and processing of client purchases, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and financial policies. Collaborate with the finance team to streamline and optimize the purchasing process. • Actively participate in the development and improvement of accounting systems, programs, and procedures. Provide valuable insights to shape the department's goals and objectives. • Demonstrate versatility by taking on additional accounting duties as required or assigned, showcasing a proactive and adaptive approach to contributing to the overall success of the finance function. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred. • 3-5 years experience in a hands-on accounting role. • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, critical thinking, financial literacy, and communication. • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks (strongly preferred) and/or other accounting platforms. • Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
