Accountant I

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for reconciling the general ledger account and overseeing the escheatment process. Assists with financial reporting and other accounting department needs. POTENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. HOWEVER, THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: • Ensures accuracy, timeliness and compliance to company policy and procedure. • Reconciles certain general ledger accounts. • Prepares daily / monthly journal entries as a backup for accountant. • Performs routine and ad-hoc analyses for Accounting Management. • Oversee the escheatment process. • Assists in information gathering as needed REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to manage daily and monthly duties • Ability to work accurately with numerical detail, operate under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Knowledge of basic accounting and computer software (including Excel). • MS Dynamics GP suite of products experience a plus. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree required • 1+ years of similar experience PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred • 3 years preferred accounting experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Requires the ability to speak, hear, and use a personal computer for standard business functions and sit for long periods of time.
